The two equivalent closed-form expressions of the bit error rate (BER) are
presented for an asynchronous DS-CDMA system using a maximal ratio combinin
g diversity over a Rician fading channel. The computational accuracy of the
BER estimates evaluated by these expressions is compared and verified thro
ugh comparison with a semi-analytical simulation result. It is shown mathem
atically that the BER formula, reduced to the ease of the well-known Raylei
gh channel, is equivalent to the formula presented previously.
