In this article we report the study of the first overtone of fluoroben
zene (C6H5F) in the wave number range from about 5900 to 6100 cm(-1).
The absorption spectrum has been measured with both a low-temperature
opto-acoustic cell and a supersonic-beam opto-thermal spectrometer. A
theoretical description of the observed, high-resolution spectrum is g
iven in the framework of the one-dimensional algebraic model, inclusiv
e of a complete set of Fermi (anharmonic) interactions. (C) 1997 Ameri
