Abstract
Volatile components of Catharanthus roseus, obtained by water distillation of leaves and industrial marcs (plant residues) were analysed by CC-MS. Thi s study allowed the identification of 76 compounds. The major substances we re represented by a homologous series of alkanes, alcohol, aldehydes, keton es, fatty acids, fatty acid esters. terpenoids and phenylpropanoids. They a re newly identified in this species and most of them have not been reported previously in the family Apocynaceae. Copyright (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons , Ltd.
