K. Yoshikawa et al., Measurements of plasma core properties in an inertial-electro static confinement fusion device, FUSION TECH, 39(2), 2001, pp. 486-491
Strongly localized electric fields were measured in the central cathode He
plasma core region of an Inertial-Electrostatic Confinement Fusion (IECF) d
evice by using the laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) method as well as plasm
a core diameter to examine their correlations.
It was found that the FWHM, of plasma core diameter increases slightly with
the increasing ion beam perveance. Comparison of the intensity profile of
the plasma core is made with that of the electric quadrupole moment (QDP) c
omponent. For the cases of potential profiles with one peak, the peak posit
ions show good correspondence with each other, while the profiles themselve
s are vastly different to each other.
