Abstract
A simplified model for the calculation of heavy ion ranges on IFE target ma terials with temperature and density gradients is presented. Such model all ows for the calculation of rough estimates of the range for a variety of ab lator states. The model assumes ion populations in thermal equilibrium, equ ilibrium charge state, and neglects any recombination effects. Dependence o f all relevant parameters with temperature is determined, and a shortening of the range is observed as target temperature is increased.
