Different finite element models for axisymmetric silo analysis, that simult
aneously considers the behaviour of the grain and the structure, are propos
ed in this paper. The use of commercial programmes and integration of moder
n theories on pressures exerted by grain are the main premises of the resea
rch. The paper presents models for both the static and dynamic conditions.
In both cases, the influence of different parameters is discussed. A new me
thod for emptying pressure determination is also proposed. (C) 2001 Silsoe
