Abstract
The novel chiral quaternary salt (R-P)-benzylmenthylmethylphenylphosphonium fluoride was synthesised. The compound was used in the asymmetric nucleoph ilic fluorination of 2-bromopropiophenone to give 7-fluoropropiophenone in a 35% yield with [alpha](D)(20) = +1.94 degrees.
