Abstract
Private forest landowners own three-quarters of Alabama's 22 million commer cial forested acres. improving private forest management can make a signifi cant impact an the multiple resources provided by these forests. The Alabam a Cooperative Extension System, through the Private Forest Management Team, cooperates with industry, landowner organizations, state and federal agenc ies, and others in several innovative programs. With limited budgets and pe rsonnel, state extension programs must develop innovative working relations hips to enhance forest landowner education and support informed forest reso urce management decisions.
