Abstract
Philadelphia middle school students participated in a forestry education pr ogram that involved activities in the classroom, an urban forest, and a dem onstration forest. A better understanding of forest stewardship, as evidenc ed by students' increased knowledge and shifting attitudes, was the cumulat ive effect, but activities and discussions in the demonstration forest prov ed the most effective educational method for fostering positive attitudes t oward forestry.
