Foresters' roles in remote sensing

Foresters have played central roles in the development of today's remote se nsing techniques. They were among the pioneers in research leading to advan ces in many of the methods and tools used in this field. Since the early 20 th century, foresters have been working with remote sensing technology in p rivate industry, universities, and government agencies. Just as important a s the techniques themselves is the ability to use them wisely; guidelines a re offered to avoid some common pitfalls.
