The forest bank - An experiment in managing fragmented forests

As the trend toward smaller parcels of land continues, many of the values a ssociated with forestland are at risk. The Forest Bank(TM), an ecosystem-ba sed approach to forest management on private lands in southwestern Virginia , points to a potential new direction in forest management. Sponsored by Th e Nature Conservancy, this program attempts to blend economic and ecologica l objectives into an effort that wilt appeal to private landowners.
