Abstract
The hypoglossal canals are an unusual location for dural arteriovenous fist ulas (AVFs) to appear, one previous report of dural AVFs involving the hypo glossal canal has been published. In the present paper, the authors describ e a dural AVF within the hypoglossal canal, which presented with ocular sym ptoms and was successfully treated by selective transvenous embolization. M agnetic resonance imaging and contralateral carotid arteriography were usef ul for determination of the exact location of the fistulous pouch, which wa s later packed with coils. Selective transvenous coil embolization with car eful assessment of the location and pattern of the venous drainage of the d ural AVF is a safe and effective treatment.
