Abstract
The dynamic stiffness matrix of an infinite Timoshenko beam on viscoelastic foundation to a harmonic moving load is established. This dynamic stiffnes s matrix is essentially a function of the velocity and frequency of the har monic moving load. The critical velocities and the resonant frequencies can be easily determined. The dynamic responses of a European high-speed railw ay subjected to a harmonic moving load are calculated as an example for dem onstration and discussion. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
