Y. Lindenbaum et al., Treatment approaches for Guillian-Barre Syndrome and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy, NEUROL CLIN, 19(1), 2001, pp. 187
Neurology is frequently dismissed as a discipline dealing with hopeless dis
eases because of a perceived lack of therapies for patients with neurologic
disorders. This perception is unfortunate because treatment approaches for
a host of neurologic disorders (stroke, epilepsy, movement disorders) are
currently evolving in an aggressive manner with remarkable outcomes for man
y patients. This article reviews the therapeutic strategies for two importa
nt peripheral nerve disorders: Gullian-Barre Syndrome and Chronic Inflammat
ory Demyelinating Polyradiculoneuropathy. The emphasis of this article is o
n treatment of these conditions.
