Abstract
A novel method for measuring lactose in bovine raw milk has been developed. The method is based on measuring H2O2 produced from lactose by oligosaccha ride oxidase through a coupled reaction involving peroxidase with a chromog enic reagent. The assay system gave a linear dose response of lactose in th e range of 25-300 mug/mL in 2-20 min of incubation. Lactose concentration i n diluted bovine raw milk was directly determined with high precision by th is method without any pretreatment. This is a quick and simple procedure an d is suitable for multi-sample assay compared to the conventional Lane-Eyno n method.
