Abstract
By shortening the distance between the photocathode and the first dynode to I mm and using a finer mesh size of 2500 lines/in. with 4 mum(phi), a 24 a node linear-array of fine-mesh photomultiplier tube has produced a clear si ngle-photon peak in its pulse-height distribution under a strong magnetic f ield of B less than or equal to 1 T, and provided sigma (TTS) = 100 ps of t ransit time spread (TTS) and 85% of photoelectron detection efficiency.
