Abstract
Mature zygotic embryos of Liriope platyphylla Wang et Tang formed embryogen ic calluses at a frequency of 33% when cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 4.52 muM 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid. Upon tra nsfer to half-strength MS basal medium, embryogenic calluses gave rise to n umerous somatic embryos, which then developed into plantlets. Regenerated p lantlets were successfully transferred to potting soil, where they were sub sequently grown to maturity.
