Abstract
Interaction of 4,4'-bis[(2,4,5-triphenylcyclopentadien-1-one-3-yl)]benzoghe none with a twofold molar amount of 4-(phenylethynyl)naphthalic anhydride a ccording to the Dials-Alder reaction yielded isomeric dianhydrides of 4,4'- bis[tetraphenyl-(4,5-dicarboxynaphth-1-yl)phenyl]benzophenone, which were u sed to prepare a series of new phenylated poly(naphthylimides) soluble in o rganic solvents. The thermal, mechanical, electrical, and optical propertie s of the resulting polymers were studied.
