En. Komkova et al., Influence of the nature off polymer matrix and the degree of sulfonation on the properties of membranes, POLYM SCI A, 43(3), 2001, pp. 300-307
The state of water in aromatic polysulfone- and poly(etheretherketone)-base
d cation-exchange membranes with different degrees of sulfonation was studi
ed. By calorimetric, IR spectroscopic, and conductometric studies, the infl
uence of the nature of a polymer matrix and the degree of sulfonation on th
e characteristics of the membranes was revealed. It was found that the chem
ical structure of a polymer matrix and the degree of sulfonation have a sub
stantial effect on the formation of transport channels in the structure of
polymers and the electric conductivity properties of the membranes.
