A study was carried out on luminescent spectral properties of naphthalimide
s containing electron-donating dimethylamino and piperidyl substituents. Th
e study was performed in solvents of different polarity, in particular, in
two-component water solutions containing alpha, beta, and gamma -cyclodextr
ins. The properties were due to photoinitiated relaxation processes pertain
ing to adiabatic structural transformations and intermolecular (mostly dipo
le-dipole) interactions with the solvent molecules.
