D. Chassagne et al., GLYCOSIDICALLY BOUND EUGENOL AND METHYL SALICYLATE IN THE FRUIT OF EDIBLE PASSIFLORA SPECIES, Journal of agricultural and food chemistry, 45(7), 1997, pp. 2685-2689
The beta-D-glucopyranoside and 6-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-beta-D-gluc
opyranoside of methyl salicylate and the B-D-glucopyranoside of eugeno
l have been characterized in purple passion fruit (Passiflora edulis S
IMS) by GC and GC/MS of their trifluoroacetylated derivatives. The str
uctural elucidations were performed by comparison of chromatography an
d mass spectrometry data with those of synthesized glycosides. Identif
ications and (semi)quantifications of some of them have been extended
to yellow passion fruit (Passiflora f flavicarpa), granadilla (Passifl
ora ligularis Juss.), and banana passion fruit (Passiflora mollissima)
.
