Abstract
Raster data structures are characterized by pixel geometry and resolution. A method is proposed to reduce resolution to a minimum using spatial aggreg ation without information loss. The method is based on a matrix approach an d developed for a two-dimensional spatial object. Perimeter measures and fr actal dimension are shown not to be invariant to spatial aggregation.
