Hw. Gao, Investigation of aluminum and copper complex solutions with calcon and selective competition coordination determination of trace amounts of copper, CHEM ANAL, 46(2), 2001, pp. 249-259
The two reactions between copper(II) and calcon(NN) and between aluminum(II
I) and (NN) were both sensitive at pH 5 in the presence of Triton X-100. Th
e selective competition coordination determination (SCCD) of copper was rep
orted. The ordinary spectrophotometry was limited for use because of the se
rious influence of the excess reactant. By means of the spectral correction
method, not only the determination of trace amouns of copper in wastewater
was carried out but also the properties of the complex could be simply est
ablished. Results showed that the formed complexes at pH 5 were AI(NN)(4) a
nd Cu(NN)(2), their cumulative stability constants is equal to 1.26 x 10(17
) and 1.05 x 10(12), respectively, and their real absorptivities are 4.13 x
10(4) at 640 nm and 2.37 x 10(4) l mol(-1) cm(-1) at 550 nm. When analyzin
g several samples, the relative standard deviation of Cu was 5.7% and the r
ecovery of Cu was between 95.6 and 109%.
