Synthesis and crystal structure of 5,6,8,9-tetrahydro-7-phenyldibenzo[c,h]acridine

5,6,8,9-Tetrahydro-7-phenyldibenzo[c, h]acridine was obtained from 5,6,8,9- tetrahydro-7-phenyl-dibenzo[c, h]xanthylium tetrafluoroborate in reaction w ith [3-(2-phenylethyl)phenyl]methylamine. Its crystal structure was determi ned by the X-ray method. fn the title molecule the phenyl ring is connected to the almost flat butterfly-like acridine residue. In the crystal only ps eudostacking interactions between central acridine rings and also between a cridine and aromatic rings forming columns along [10(1) over bar] direction occur.
