Abstract
Some investigations on the preparative procedures of fibrous polyacrylonitr ile thorium (IV) phosphate (PANThP) are reported. This new fibrous ion exch anger has been characterized on the basis of SEM and the ion exchange studi es. The distribution studies reveal that the exchanger is highly selective for Pb(II). On this basis some useful binary separations of Pb(II) from oth er metal ions have been performed on its column indicating its useful envir onmental applications. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V.
