Abstract
Damping and control of randomly excited vibrations in a vertically hanging cantilever or a beam inside a machine or structure by a loose spring skirt is a novel idea. In this work, mathematical modeling of vibration damping r esponse of the loose spring skirting a hanging multi-segment cantilever sys tem is presented, Computer code developed on the basis of this model has en abled to analyze the response of various parameters of the cantilever skirt ed by a loose spring.
