Damping and control of randomly excited vibrations in a vertically hanging
cantilever or a beam inside a machine or structure by a loose spring skirt
is a novel idea. In this work, mathematical modeling of vibration damping r
esponse of the loose spring skirting a hanging multi-segment cantilever sys
tem is presented, Computer code developed on the basis of this model has en
abled to analyze the response of various parameters of the cantilever skirt
