The crescentic advancement flap was initially used for upper lip recon
struction but, at present, it is widely used for repairing defects loc
alized on the lateral nose, perialar and nasolabial regions. Firstly,
we report a surgical case repaired with a classical crescentic advance
ment flap technique and secondly, a case that was resolved using a new
technique designed by us that we have termed ''inverse crescentic adv
ancement flap''. We also emphasize the skills necessary to maximize th
e cosmetic benefits of the direct and inverse crescentic advancement f
lap procedure.
