In this paper, we investigate the global structure of mixed clusters create
d by coexpansion. To determine the relative dopant sites within the mixed c
lusters, we take advantage of the strong dependence of the cluster/surface
collision dynamics on the incident mixed cluster structure. Using both expe
riments and molecular dynamic simulations, we show that the coexpansion pro
cess leads to the most stable cluster structure for AT((880))Kr((120)) clus
ters. This structure corresponds to an annealed structure and can be charac
terized as a nearly homogeneous mixture throughout the cluster with a thin
argon coating.
