A method of the stability analysis and systematic design of fuzzy control s
ystems is presented in this paper. The fuzzy control system is formulated b
y a set of local Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models (T-S fuzzy model) with aggregat
ion. The controller is designed by state feedback for each local model sepa
rately. It is shown that under some conditions the controller designed can
guarantee the global stability of the closed-loop fuzzy system. The stabili
ty of the whole closed-loop fuzzy system is also proved via the piecewise L
yapunov function. The simulation results for the fuzzy control of a nonline
ar system - the ball and beam system (BB-system) - show that this method is
