Abstract
Reaction of the trinegative tricarboxylate anion 1,3,5-tricarboxylatobenzen e (the anion of trimesic acid) and Mo-2(DAniF)(3)Cl-2 (DAniF=N,N'-di-p-anis ylformamidinate) under reducing conditions produces the propeller-shaped he xanuclear complex [Mo-2(DAniF)(3)](3)(1,3,5-C6H3(CO2)(3)). Its structure ha s been established by X-ray crystallography: H-1 NMR is also consistent wit h the presence of highly symmetrical species in solution. The three quadrup ly-bonded Mo-Mo distances are 2.081(4), 2.087(3), and 2.090(4) Angstrom. Th is neutral complex is electrochemically active. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B .V. All rights reserved.
