K. Houf et al., Susceptibility of Arcobacter butzleri, Arcobacter cryaerophilus, and Arcobacter skirrowii to antimicrobial agents used in selective media, J CLIN MICR, 39(4), 2001, pp. 1654-1656
Several antimicrobial agents used in selective media for the isolation of A
rcobacter were found to be inhibitory to strains belonging to this genus. A
ll three species tested were susceptible to colistin and rifampin at concen
trations used in selective media. Arcobacter skirrowii was the most suscept
ible species. 5-Fluorouracil, novobiocin, trimethoprim, and teicoplanin or
vancomycin were found to be without any inhibitory effect on the strains te
sted at concentrations described for the isolation of Arcobacter species.
