Abstract
Micarea xanthonica sp. nov. is described from the western British Isles, we sternmost Norway and the Pacific Northwest of North America. It belongs to the M. prasina group, but differs from related species in possessing xantho nes in the thallus. (C) 2001 The British Lichen Society.
