Carbon ions were implanted into Si/ZSM-5 host-guest composite material at a
n energy of 50 keV and with a dose of 3 X 10(17) cm(-2) followed by thermal
annealing in a vacuum chamber to form SiC/ZSM-5 host-guest composite mater
ial. Blue photoluminescence (PL) has been obtained from the SiC nanoparticl
es encapsulated in ZSM-5. The results could be explained by the quantum con
finement effect. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
