Abstract
Let; a E N \ (0, 1) anti let b(n) be a sequence of rational integers satisf
ying b(n) = O(n-(2n)) for every n epsilon ]0, 1[. We prove that the number
S = Sigma (+infinity)(n=0) 1/(a(2n) +b(n)) is transcendental, by using a sp
ecial form of Mahlers's transcendence method.
