The first study of the Myxomycetes from the Mexican state of Sonora is pres
ented. Seventeen taxa are new records for the Sonoran Mycobiota. Diachea su
bsessilis, Didymium rubeopus var. rubeopus and Trichia affinis are first re
cords for Mexico. From a chorological point of view two taxa are interestin
g: Hemitrichia parviverrucospora status and comb. nov, and Metatrichia horr
ida. SEM photographs of the most important characteristics of these five sp
ecies are provided.
