Application of Markov model of random medium for the interpretation of experimental results on muon intensity measurements at underground installations

Incomplete information on overburden rock composition is the source of syst
ematic error arising in underground muon experiments. As was shown in our p
revious works this problem requires a probabilistical approach, namely the
introduction of a statistical ensemble of media which includes all possible
medium realizations. As an example of such an ensemble we proposed the Mar
kov two-phase model of random medium and applied it to the KGF ground. In t
his paper we continue the discussion of this problem and consider further p
ossibilities of application of this model for estimating the influence of g
round properties uncertainties on experimental results.
