Abstract
Gentamicin and standard-dose ibuprofen were administered to an adolescent w ith cystic fibrosis who developed renal failure and severe vestibulotoxicit y. A contributing factor was possible suboptimal intravascular volume statu s. Because of the potential severity of this drug interaction, hydration st atus and renal and vestibular functions should be closely monitored in pati ents receiving ibuprofen and intravenous aminoglycosides concomitantly.
