Cc. Degli Atti et al., Effects of the final state interaction in the electrodisintegration of thedeuteron at intermediate and high energies - art. no. 044601, PHYS REV C, 6304(4), 2001, pp. 4601
The role of final state interactions (FSIs) in the inclusive quasielastic d
isintegration of the deuteron is investigated treating the two-nucleon fina
l state within the exact continuum solutions of the nonrelativistic Schrodi
nger equation, as well as within the Glauber multiple-scattering approach.
It is shown that for values of the Bjorken scaling variable x(Bj) similar o
r equal to 1 both approaches provide similar results, except for the case x
(Bj) greater than or similar to 1, where they appreciably disagree. It is d
emonstrated that present experimental data, which are mostly limited to a r
egion of four-momentum transfer [Q(2) less than or similar to 4 (GeV/c)(2)]
where the center-of-mass energy of the final state is below the pion thres
hold production, can be satisfactorily reproduced by an approach based on a
n exact solution of the Schrodinger equation and not by the Glauber approac
h.
