Bromination of 5,10,15,20-tetraazaporphine with N-bromosuccinimide in glaci
al acetic acid or chloroform involves formation of molecular complex with b
romine and yields a mixture of bromo derivatives. Chromatographic separatio
n of the product mixture on silica gel gave mono-,2,7-di-, 2,12-di-, 2,7,12
-tri-, and 2,7,12,17-tetrabromo-5,10,15,20-tetraazaporphines.
