F. Qi et Hw. Xin, Stochastic resonance induced by fluctuation in liquid membrane oscillator without input signals, BIOPHYS CH, 90(2), 2001, pp. 175-182
We investigated numerically the dynamic behavior of the oil/water liquid me
mbrane, which is a promising model for excitable bio-membrane. When we use
noise to modulate the parameters in simulation, noise-induced coherent osci
llation is observed. With the increment of the noise intensity, the coheren
ce of noise-induced oscillation can go through a maximum, which indicating
the occurrence of stochastic resonance (SR) without input signals. We compa
red the SR effects under the condition that noise is added to different con
trol parameters. When noise was added to both of the parameters, a complica
ted SR-like phenomemon was observed. The interaction of coherent SRs induce
d by two independent noises is discussed. The possibly constructive role of
noise in some sensory cells is discussed also. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B
