The effect of nickel/alumina catalyst preparation methods on its microstruc
ture and catalytic activity for the reforming reaction of methane with carb
on dioxide were systematically studied. Two series of three catalyst each o
ne were prepared. For each series :a) two catalysts were prepared by adding
the metal solution precursor in two different steps during the support pre
paration and b) the third one by impregnation of that metal solution precur
sor on the alumina support previously prepared. The catalyst and/or catalys
ts precursors were characterized by x-ray diffraction (DRX),differential th
ermoanalysis (DTA/TG), nitrogen adsorption technique, scanning electron mic
roscopy (SEM) and EDAX, and CO-chemisorption. Relations between catalysts p
reparation methods and CO2 reforming catalytic activity were established.
