ICIn is a ubiquitously expressed eukaryotic protein. Expression of the prot
ein in Xenopus laevis oocytes, the knocking-down of the protein in fibrobla
sts, or the reconstitution of the protein in lipid bilayer led to the assum
ption that this protein is an ionic channel or a significant part thereof.
However, other possible roles for ICIn in potential regulatory mechanisms h
ave been postulated, as diverse as regulator of cell morphology by interact
ing with the Skb1 protein and/or interaction with core spliceosomal protein
s. Here we show that ICIn is able to interact with SnRNP core proteins SmD1
, SmD2, SmD3, SmX5 and SmB/B'. Copyright (C) 2001 S. Karger AG. Basel.
