In this paper the parameters of a two-phase permanent magnet brushless moto
r are obtained by using two-dimensional finite element method (FEM). These
parameters are the induced EMF in the stator windings, mutual and self indu
ctances of windings, and the static torque developed by the motor. A nonlin
ear model for motor has been developed in order to predict the transient an
d steady-state operation of the machine. This nonlinear model has been comb
ined with the model of the drive circuit having two closed loops. The outer
loop is the speed feedback with a proportional-integral (PI) type of contr
oller and the inner loop is the current feedback with a hysteresis current
control.
