Abstract
The larval hairs of a species of Megalopyginae were chemically analyzed by combined gas chromatography / mass spectrometry. The hairs mainly contain h ydroquinone besides nicotine, isopropyl myristate, and several trace compou nds whereby hydroquinone and phenol probably accomplish disinfection from p athogens of the animals.
