At room temperature, the reaction of metallic copper powder with 2-thenoylt
rifluoroacetone and his (diphenylphosphino)ethane gives the binuclear coppe
r(T) complex, [Cu(dppe)(tfac)](2.) The complex has been characterized by ph
ysico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. X-Ray structure of the title comp
lex shows that 2-thenoyltrifluoroacetone behaves as a chelating ligand and
dppe coordinates as bridging bidentate ligand to Cu-I atoms in the newly pr
epared copper(I) complex. The crystal is monoclinic, space group C2/c, with
cell parameters a= 25.215(6); b= 15.304(9), c= 18.851(6) Angstrom, beta= 1
07.20(3)degrees Z= 4, V= 6949.0(2) Angstrom (3), R=0.06682, Rw=0.07326.
