Strontium ferrite permanent magnet - An overview

Among the permanent magnets hard ferrites, particularly M-type hexagonal fe rrites (Sr-Ferrite and Ba-Ferrite) have special place by virtue of their lo w cost and reasonable magnetic properties. This paper gives a brief introdu ction of hard ferrites with special reference to strontium ferrite permanen t magnet. Processing of, sintered and plastic - bonded magnet has been disc ussed. The effect of composition of strontium ferrite powders and that of v arious additives, such as CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, etc. on the magnetic properties have also been outlined.
