The present paper is aimed at to study the propagation of plane harmonic wa
ves in homogeneous anisotropic piezo-thermoelastic materials after deriving
the secular equation. It is found that four dispersive modes are possible.
The low and high frequency approximations for the propagation speeds and a
ttenuation coefficients have been obtained for quasi-longitudinal (QL), qua
si-transverse (QT), and quasi-thermal (T-mode). The limiting cases of the f
requency equation have also been discussed. The analytical results obtained
have been computed numerically for cadmium selenide material (6 mm class)
of hexagonal symmetry.
