Abstract
PspC was found to bind human complement factor H (PH) by Western blot analy sis of D39 (pspC(+)) and an isogenic mutant TRE108 (pspC). We confirmed tha t PspA does not bind FH, while purified PspC binds PH very strongly, The bi nding of PH to exponentially growing pneumococci varied among different iso lates when analyzed by fluorescence activated cell sorting analysis.
