Recently privatized firms in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries a
re searching for Western European partners to transfer their technologies t
o Western countries. The differences in expectations between CEE managers a
nd their Western counterparts increased as privatization efforts intensifie
d. This paper proposes a model which can explain the differences in expecta
tions before privatization and market realities after privatization, betwee
n CEE managers and their Western counterparts in terms of technology transf
er out and into GEE.
