Polycrystalline samples of UFexAl12-x with x=4.5, 4.7, 4.85 and 5.0 were ob
tained by induction milling followed by annealing at 800 degreesC for 3 wee
ks, The structure of all the samples was checked by powder X-ray diffractio
n and the final composition estimated using the Rietveld method. The introd
uction of interstitial hydrogen was performed by a reaction at high pressur
e and the final compounds were characterized by X-ray diffraction. magnetiz
ation measurements and Mossbauer spectroscopy. These results showed a signi
ficant modification in the magnetic behaviour after the insertion of hydrog
